The reason why this blog has had a bit of a stop/start beginning to its life is because immediately after writing the first post, I went to Hong Kong for the week. I know that this isn’t a personal blog, but Hong Kong is such a city of contrasts that I thought I’d share a couple of pictures with you. Most of the contrasts I found were between the old and the new, the poor and the rich, the squalid and the gleaming. In Hong Kong no one seems to mind the juxtaposition of putting a giant steel-and-glass skyscraper next to a dirty crumbling block of apartments, and similarly, temples will often find themselves overshadowed by 20 storey apartment blocks. The biggest contrast of Hong Kong is that most people imagine it to be a teeming metropolis, and whilst the city on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon is a hive of activity, around 80% of the area is actually forest, an unexpected paradise for hikers and ramblers.

Ok, that’s enough about me, time to get back to real Contrast news!
